Updated November 4, 2026. Siri AI (beta) works on Apple Watch, but whether you get it depends on two devices, not one: the watch model and the iPhone it is paired with. This guide uses only Apple's own Apple Watch User Guide to explain which combinations work, how to turn Siri AI on, how to invoke it, how the Siri app works, and how to go back to the classic Siri.
Short answer: Series 9 or later, paired with an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 or later
Apple states that Siri AI is available in beta on watchOS 27 or later on Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, and Apple Watch SE 3, "when paired with an Apple Intelligence–enabled iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 model or later with Siri and device language set to a supported language" (Get started with Siri AI on Apple Watch). With watchOS 27.2 (October 26, 2026), Japanese, French, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish joined English (Apple security releases lists watchOS 27.2 for Series 9 and later).
Requirement | What Apple says |
|---|---|
Apple Watch | Series 9 and later, Ultra 2 and later, SE 3 |
watchOS | watchOS 27 or later (more languages from 27.2) |
Paired iPhone | iPhone 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 or later, with Apple Intelligence turned on |
Language | Siri and device language set to English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, or Spanish |
Not available | EU on watchOS (initially), China mainland, users under 13 |
Other | Beta. Daily usage limits apply. Siri needs an internet connection |
Combinations that work and combinations that don't
The iPhone requirement is the one people miss. A brand-new Apple Watch paired with an iPhone 15, 15 Plus, or iPhone 14 or earlier will not get Siri AI. The reverse is also true: a new iPhone cannot bring Siri AI to a Series 8 or older watch, because those models cannot run watchOS 27.
Apple Watch | Paired iPhone | Siri AI |
|---|---|---|
Series 9+, Ultra 2+, SE 3 | iPhone 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 or later (Apple Intelligence on) | Yes |
Series 9+, Ultra 2+, SE 3 | iPhone 15 / 15 Plus, iPhone 14 or earlier | No (iPhone does not qualify) |
Series 9+, Ultra 2+, SE 3 | Supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence off | No, until Apple Intelligence is turned on |
Series 8 or earlier, Ultra (1st gen), SE (2nd gen) or earlier | Any | No (no watchOS 27) |
How to turn on Siri AI for Apple Watch
You do this on the paired iPhone, not on the watch.
- Update the watch to watchOS 27 or later (27.2 or later for the newly added languages).
- On the iPhone, open Settings and tap Siri.
- If Siri is off, tap "Turn on Siri," then tap "Try the new Siri (Beta)."
- If Siri is on but you chose the previous version, tap "Try the new Siri (Beta)."
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
Ways to activate Siri AI on Apple Watch
Activation works the same way as before (How to use Siri on Apple Watch). On a small screen, keeping at least two voice methods on makes Siri AI far more useful.
Method | How | Where to turn it off (Settings on the watch) |
|---|---|---|
Raise to Speak | Raise your wrist and speak | Siri > Raise to Speak |
Voice | Say "Hey Siri" or just "Siri," then your request | Siri > Listen for "Siri" or "Hey Siri" |
Digital Crown | Press and hold until the listening indicator appears | Siri > Press Digital Crown |
After you activate Siri you can lower your wrist; you'll feel a tap when there is a response. To reply or continue, hold down the Digital Crown and speak. If speaking is difficult, turn on Accessibility > Siri > Type to Siri on the watch.
What Siri AI is good for on the wrist
Apple groups Siri AI's abilities into three areas: questions about almost any topic, finding things in your Messages, Mail, Notes, and Photos, and taking actions in apps. Apple's own examples include "What's a good way to teach someone how to play chess?" and asking Siri to update an exercise goal without opening an app.
The watch shines when your hands are busy: checking where your next meeting is while walking, changing an activity goal mid-workout, or adding a reminder. Longer reading and comparison work is better left to the iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
The Siri app: continue conversations across devices
With Siri AI on, Apple Watch gets a dedicated Siri app (Use the Siri app on Apple Watch). You can ask something on your iPhone and pick up where you left off on the watch; history syncs when you're signed in to the same Apple Account. Swipe left on a conversation to pin or delete it.
Going back to the classic Siri
Siri AI is a beta. If it isn't for you, open Settings > Siri on the iPhone, turn Siri off, then tap "Turn on Siri" and choose the classic Siri. You can return later with "Try the new Siri (Beta)."
Things to know first
- Daily limits: features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, have daily usage limits that vary with request complexity and system load. Apple says expanded access will be offered for a fee later.
- Internet required: cellular charges may apply when the watch uses its own connection.
- Battery: watchOS 27 may suggest turning off features such as Raise to Speak to extend battery life.

FAQ
Which Apple Watch models support Siri AI?
Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, and Apple Watch SE 3 running watchOS 27 or later. The watch must also be paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 model or later.
Why doesn't Siri AI show up on my Series 10?
The most common reason is the paired iPhone. Apple requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 or later. If your watch is paired with an iPhone 15, 15 Plus, or iPhone 14 or earlier, Siri AI is not available on the watch.
Where do I turn on Siri AI for Apple Watch?
On the paired iPhone, not on the watch. Open Settings, tap Siri, then tap Try the new Siri (Beta) and follow the onscreen instructions. If Siri is off, tap Turn on Siri first.
Which languages does Siri AI support on Apple Watch?
English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish to start. Japanese, French, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish were added with watchOS 27.2 on October 26, 2026. Siri AI is not initially available in the EU on watchOS and is not available in China mainland.
Can I go back to the previous Siri?
Yes. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap Siri, turn Siri off, then tap Turn on Siri and choose to use the classic Siri.
